Behavioural Emergence for Rescue Success
Rescue dogs deserve the opportunity to show who they truly are.
Many dogs enter rescue carrying stress, uncertainty, or a history that isn’t fully understood. Their behaviour during those first days or weeks doesn’t always reflect the dog they’ll become once they’ve had time to settle, decompress, and feel safe.
The Rescue Reset Series was created specifically for rescue organizations and rescue dogs. Drawing on decades of hands-on rescue experience, we provide a structured environment where dogs can decompress, establish a routine, and gradually build confidence while we carefully evaluate their temperament, behaviour, and individual needs.
Long before Complete K9 Care became a professional training facility, our journey began in rescue. We have fostered and trained hundreds of rescue dogs, helped establish two rescue organizations from the ground up, and even travelled internationally to assist rescues in evaluating dogs for adoption into Canada. That experience has taught us one simple truth: every dog deserves the chance to be understood before they’re judged.
Throughout their stay, each dog receives daily enrichment, consistent structure, and professional behavioural observations. We carefully assess how they respond to people, dogs, new environments, vehicles, and everyday situations, allowing us to provide rescue organizations with a clearer picture of each dog’s personality, strengths, challenges, and ideal home.
At the end of the program, you’ll receive a comprehensive Rescue Reset Report outlining our observations, behavioural assessment, home recommendations, and guidance on the most appropriate next steps whether that’s adoption, continued decompression, or one of our advanced training programs.
